Nanyuki is the central town of the Laikipia region, which stretches from the dramatic Rift Valley to magnificent escarpments dropping down into the Northern Frontier District. Two rivers - the Ewaso Nyiro and Ewaso Narok - wind through the region, giving life to frequently very dry areas.

This scenic region boasts the escarpment views, dramatic wooded gorges and tangled riverine thickets. Made famous by Kuki Gallmann's ‘I Dreamed of Africa’, about her life in this secluded part of the continent, the region is somewhat unknown to "package tourists", as all the accommodation is on private land, where guests are treated more like a friend than a tourist.

In today's newsletter, we hope to inspire you to revisit Lakipia on your next weekend escape. If you need help with a bespoke itinerary for a getaway to Nanyuki, or the broader Laikipia region, please drop us a line on [email protected] and one of our destination experts will be glad to assist.
